How to Make the Best Best-Ever Wagyu Burgers
There’s nothing quite like a perfectly grilled burger made with premium Wagyu beef. These best-ever Wagyu burgers deliver restaurant-quality results right from your backyard grill. With the buttery texture and rich flavor of Wagyu beef, paired with classic burger seasonings, these patties are absolutely irresistible.
Why Wagyu Beef for Burgers?
Wagyu beef is known for its incredible marbling—those beautiful intramuscular fat deposits that make the meat incredibly juicy and flavorful. When ground into burgers, this marbling creates patties that stay moist and tender no matter how they’re cooked. Unlike lean ground beef that can dry out on the grill, Wagyu burgers maintain their succulence and develop a delicious crust on the outside while staying juicy on the inside.
The Perfect Summer Meal
With just 20 minutes of total time, these Wagyu burgers are perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special backyard grill-out. The simple seasoning blend—salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika—complements the rich beef flavor without overpowering it. Top them with your favorite toppings and pair with an ice-cold beverage for the ultimate summer meal.

Instructions
Prepare & Cook
- Grease and heat the grill over medium-high. As it heats, form the Wagyu ground beef into four equal-size balls and then shape into burger patties. They should be slightly larger than your burger buns to account for shrinking during cooking. Use your thumb to make an indention in the middle of each patty.
- Mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and smoked paprika. Sprinkle over the four patties right before cooking. Salt starts to immediately draw moisture from the meat, so it's important to season right before they go on the grill.
- Place the patties on the hot grill and cook for two to five minutes on one side with the lid closed, depending on your desired level of doneness.
- Flip the burgers and cook for another two to five minutes on the other side. If using cheese, add the cheese when you flip the burgers in the last 30 seconds or so of cooking.
- Remove the burgers from the grill. Lightly tent the burgers with foil and let them sit for five minutes to allow the juices to redistribute to the meat.
Serve
- Place the patties on buns and add your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
Notes
- For rare burgers, cook to an internal temperature of 130-135°F (about 2-3 minutes per side)
- For medium-rare burgers, cook to 135-145°F (about 3-4 minutes per side)
- For medium burgers, cook to 145-160°F (about 4-5 minutes per side)
- The thumb indention in the center of each patty helps prevent the burger from puffing up and bulging in the middle while cooking
- Don't press down on the burgers while cooking, as this squeezes out the juices
