How to Make the Best Bourbon White Chocolate Truffles

Indulge in these elegant Bourbon White Chocolate Truffles, a sophisticated treat that brings together two classic flavors in perfect harmony. The creamy white chocolate center infused with smooth bourbon whiskey creates a luxurious candy that’s perfect for holiday gifting or special occasions. These handcrafted truffles deliver a delicate balance of sweetness with a subtle smokey vanilla kick that lingers on the palate.

Why These Truffles Stand Out

What makes these bourbon white chocolate truffles special is their luxurious texture and sophisticated flavor profile. Unlike store-bought versions, homemade truffles allow you to control the quality of ingredients and the intensity of bourbon flavor. The double chocolate coating technique—with a bourbon-laced center and white chocolate shell—creates a professional-looking confection that tastes as impressive as it looks.

Tips for Success

The key to perfect truffles is using a proper double boiler to gently melt the chocolate without scorching it. Be patient during the refrigeration steps; rushing this process can result in truffles that don’t hold their shape when dipping. The bourbon should be added after the chocolate and cream mixture is removed from heat to preserve its flavor. These truffles make an excellent gift when packaged in pretty boxes or wrapped in festive paper, and they’re sure to impress any chocolate lover.

Instructions

Make the Filling

  1. Set up a double boiler system on the stovetop - a medium size sauce pan with about 2 to 3 inches of simmering water and a heat proof bowl over the sauce pan. The bowl should not touch the water.
  2. Add 2 cups white chocolate and heavy cream to the bowl. Stir to combine as the chocolate melts. The mixture will be very thick and appear as though the chocolate has broken, but it will thin out to the right consistency once the bourbon is added.
  3. Once chocolate is fully melted and mixed with heavy cream, remove from the heat and add the bourbon. Mix well to combine, the consistency should be the same as melted chocolate.
  4. Refrigerate until the chocolate is firm, about 1 hour. Roll into bite sized balls and place on a sheet of parchment paper. Refrigerate while preparing the dipping chocolate.

Dip and Set

  1. Set up a double boiler system again and melt the remaining white chocolate - choose a shallow bowl so the truffles will be easier to dip. Remove from the heat and retrieve the bourbon white chocolate truffles from the refrigerator.
  2. Using a fork, roll each truffle in the melted chocolate then lightly tap while on the fork to remove excess chocolate. Transfer back to the parchment paper and garnish with whichever sprinkles make you happy.
  3. Let sit at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes to let the chocolate shell set.

Notes

  • The truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • For a stronger bourbon flavor, add an extra tablespoon to the filling.
